Switch Science is on a mission to make creations with electronics accessible and easy-to-handle for average people.
We provide over 1500 DIY electronics items on our online store: not meaning just selling components to build electronic circuits, but delivering pre-assembled modules and related goods to make your DIY projects painless. Besides offering the items we selected from Arduino, Digi, SparkFun, Seeed, Adafruit, Pololu, PC Engines etc., we are developing original modules and kits.
Our Story
Switch Science started out when the founder president, Shigeru Kanemoto, decided to order Arduino for his personal use.
As it didn’t seem like a good idea to spend the shipping cost for just one piece, he thought of buying more and distributing Arduino to others who wanted. The very first office in 2008 was a closet in his house. Then it was a tiny studio apartment in his neighborhood.　Then he moved the office to a 20 m2 apartment in 2009, to a space in a converted old school house in 2010, and finally to where we are now in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo in 2013.
In 2010, we took our current form as Switch Science Inc., as a result of spin-off from another company owned by Kanemoto. Switch Science is now one of the businesses that operates under the holding company, 144Lab, which Kanemoto and several others own.
